Ten Reasons Why The Struggle Continues
If you think everything is okay in this country because we can all drink from the same public water fountains, think again. Although "we’ve come a long way baby," here are ten reasons why we’ve still got a very long way to go.
- When it comes to the wonderful world of entertainment, nothing has changed, really. We’re still mammies, bucks and ‘hos. Everybody still loves a coon show on television. The Magic Negro is alive and well in film. And on Broadway—well, they don’t call it The Great White Way for nothing.
- The 9 to 5 workplace isn’t faring very well for people of color, either—whether you’re a college graduate or not.
- That’s right, folks. Believe it or not—when it’s time to apply for a job, your color matters.
- That’s why Affirmative action is so necessary. Then again, why would they want to level the playing field when institutionally everything is to their advantage?
- Wanting a "level playing field" is one of many reasons why a lot of African-Americans want Reparations now …
- …and why so many want to Stop Reparations Now. Either way, race plays a detrimental part in our everyday lives—another reason why many of us are getting prepaid legal services.
- In the meantime, there is an unexplainable phenomena growing in our urban areas that sociologists call ghetto miasma…
- …which explains why we have such a low life expectancy, low infant mortality/birth rate, why certain diseases plague us and why things for so many of us are bad and getting worse.
- DWB—Driving While Black (or Brown)—still happens, all over the world. And yes. It can get you killed.
- Two words: Police brutality.
